An international cinematic experiment with focus on CI users

This unique movie experiment brings together 18 young cochlear implant users from different countries around the world. They talk about everyday life and reinterpret life details in their own, deeply personal way.

We are thrilled to announce the premiere of Wave´s Imprint, a movie directed by Andu Dimitrescu and coordinated by VAR Cultural Association in Romania, who executed numerous projects with focus on CI users and their artistic talent in the recent years. This time, they go one step further and bring together 18 young CI users from different countries such as Belgium, England, Turkey, Iran, Moldova, Croatia, the Philippines and Romania, among others, who each offer their own perspective on daily life in a short movie. They explore familiar paths and talk about some common everyday details in an artistic and their personal view.

Through this transcultural collaboration, participants come together in a completely different way than before. The projects thereby merges diverse visions into one authentic story that highlights the imagination, originality, playfulness, curiosity and inventiveness of the participants.

The filming with the participants from Romania took place in a creative camp, where the young people constructed scenes based on improvisation exercises supported by the project team. At the same time, participants from abroad worked remotely between July and October 2024, receiving weekly personalized emails guiding them through artistic challenges designed to encourage them to freely express their ideas and explore new ways of experimenting visually and verbally.
